brother's box

my brother is in the army and has been stationed in a pretty remote part of the world. he has been in many different areas through out the world and has always enjoyed it. this current location is actually the first time i've ever heard him complain! once when he emailed us he said how terrible the food is there, he said it was actually rotten food cause thats the best they can get! well, for the first time ever he asked us to help him out by sending him a few different things. diana and i were eager to fulfill his wishes, so we assembled a care package for him and filled it with a few different things that he requested, and a bunch of other stuff too! he asked for some candy and powdered flavoring the bottles of water, so we did just that. i got him tons of candy, much of it was candy that we always loved when we were growing up, and about 50 powder packets as well.
i figured that i could send him a few more items that he might like, and put on my thinking hat to try and guess what he might enjoy. i know he loves to read, but he mentioned that he works sixteen to twenty hour days, so having the time to read a book is out of the question. diana and i headed to borders to try and find some magazines he might enjoy. he's really into mma fighting, so we picked up a couple of those for him, and the latest national review. he always used to have a subscription to that, so we figured that would be a good choice. the best part though, is that his favorite musician had just released a new cd that week, so i went and bought the new morrissey album for him! i knew he would appreciate that since he certainly wasnt anywhere near a cd shop to pick it up for himself!
it took a couple weeks to arrive, but he said he was very happy to receive it! it was a lot of fun for diana and i to put it together, so i look forward to him requesting a few more things so we can send him another one soon!
