building a super tall tower!
knocking over that super tall tower...
where did ledger go?  i thought i saw him around here somewhere...
enjoying his new playroom!
reading with mama!
going for a walk on an unseasonably warm day in december.
playing with the family sunday afternoon.
a line of mirco machines making their way to the playset.
he always wants me to take pictures of him, but wants to see it before i've even take one!  sorry buddy, you have to wait till its been taken.
watching tv, using mema's feet as a pillow...

introducing: penny!

so cute!
penny in her cute hat with mama telling us all the details.
do you think daddy is proud?  maybe just a little...

building a house

aves started us off by putting the frosting in the edges of the different pieces so that we could try to get them to stick together.  it worked pretty well, but made for some sticky hands!
jaidey takes a turn too.
each of them got a piece of the roof to decorate however they wanted.
the finished product.  looks pretty great, huh?  when ledger got up from his nap he was beside himself with excitement about this thing!  he talked about it for days after!  i think the gingerbread man has become his new obsession...

afternoon crafts

the girls helped ledger color this picture of his favorite thing: a snowman!
even mema gets in on the sticker fun!
craft time!
the craft for today? brown bag hand puppets!  i was on eye duty, drawing up as many pairs of eyes as i could so they had different expressions for their puppets.
when they had made a great collection of them, it was time for a puppet show!
ledger is currently obsessed with baymax (or as he calls him 'huggable'), the robot from the movie 'big hero 6'.  he asked if i could make a 'huggable' puppet for him!
with the crafts away and ledger in bed for his nap, it was time for the ladies to get to some more grown up activities- cards!

we went to the christian bookstore, and ledger fell in love with bob the tomato!  he had so much fun it it, we brought it home!
going for a ride on grandpa's leg!
chillin' out, eating dinner and watching some 'dora'.
ledger the pirate!  its really cute to hear him try to be a pirate considering he cant pronounce his R's!
playing with batman- that thing is almost as tall as he is!
he is totally obsessed with snowmen!  at the store he found a couple that were bigger than him!
ledger was so amazed at the two mirrors in the corner of a store- 'look daddy, there are four ledgers!'  there sure are, buddy.  which is at least three too many!
clowning around at the store!
ledger made a new friend!
he found two oven mitts and spend the rest of the time at the store pretending to be a lobster!

goodbye teaching

my last morning at school started with chapel.  i had been the leader of the chapel committee for all of my years there.  it was something that was sometimes fun and other times a huge burden.  all in all though, i'm sure i will miss it and all the kids who helped on the committee!
all the elementary kids excited about the thanksgiving chapel.
a few sixth graders working on homework in the group work area.
more sixth graders working and having a good time.
my classroom.  please note, the window blinds always stayed closed because the sun is gross.
posing with a few kids from my homeroom.
as a special surprise, matt (the old gym teacher) stopped by to visit me on my last day!  actually, he didn't know it was my last day, he was just in town visiting some family for thanksgiving and stopped in with his girls.  it was actually a genuine treat to be able to see him once more.  of all the people i worked with, he is the one person that i can actually say was a friend.
the eighth graders posing for a picture with their favorite bible teacher (i can say that because i was their only bible teacher...)
at the end of my last day, keys turned in, everything packed up, looking back one last time before i got in my car and drove off into the sunset.  (actually, i drove east to go home, but allow me this poetic license...)

rockstar

ledger has a bit to eat with uncle james.
doing his sound check before the big concert started.
for some reason ledger really loves to go in the doggy cage.  no really, i promise, he did this of his own volition- we did not make him get in there!
before we left, diana did a quick haircut for james.

ledger's first snowman

all bundled up, waddling like a marshmallow, ledger was ready to play in the snow!
before getting to the main event, he wanted to wander around on the deck and do some 'exploring'!
he was having a blast while his mama waved at us through the window, enjoying the warmth while we played in the cold.
a second after this picture was taken ledger fell straight back like a board to the ground, waved around his arms and legs yelling 'i make an angel, daddy!'  i almost dropped the camera from laughing!
stan takes shape!
not content to just have stan sit there on the ground, ledger decided that stan might like to go on the swings!  (he was right, stan loved it!)

steely james

as someone who knows nothing about steely dan, i am intensely curious why a mustache features so prominently in the concert poster...
as the night went on they attracted quite a crowd!
