diana and i took out mom and dad's bikes for a little spin- i hadn't been on a bike in about five years! fortunately, remembering how to ride one is like riding a bike... we were out enjoying the bikes for about 45 minutes! quite a workout!

lawn work: overgrowth

the biggest problem was a pesky set of vines that had taken over the fence. i put on some work gloves and pulled out my saw and got to work on it...

and boy does it look better! wow, i actually do have a fence after all! i also cut out some of the bushes/trees that had grown in the unattended area next to his garage.

here's another view of the finished product. i still have some clean up left, but i'm pretty sure i should contact the power line company to finish that up- the tree that grew out of that mess is intertwined with all the wires coming into the house. i'm not stupid enough to mess with that kind of thing...

since i had the weed wacker out, i thought i might as well clean up the area by my back door where i keep our grill...
oh- much better! i might actually be able to use the grill now!

lawn work: edging

the 'before' picture. it doesnt look too bad, i dont think. i never thought anything of it, but now that i've seen...

the 'after' picture, i realize now what i had been missing! man, you could almost park our cars side by side with all this space!

the front corner of the driveway, the drop is pretty deep!

by the time i got to the sidewalk i was sick of the dull edger, so i just moved to using my shovel!

it only took a couple hours on saturday afternoon and a blister on my hand, but the sidewalk and driveway looked so much better! now i really should mow the lawn...
